an overall 50% rise in the decibel levels in Visakhapatnam as per reports by Andhra
Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB). The rise of vehicular traffic is found

plying the roads apart from the floating traffic and vehicles plying on NH-16.In
residential areas, the maximum permissible limits are 45-55 decibels but these
days it ranges between 60 and 75.
Water shortage – Water storage is
commonly seen in most of the residential apartments in the city due to poor
storage planning and declining ground water supply. This is overcome to a large
extent in newer Townships that are implementing rain water harvesting and restoring
it in large pools.
Hospital wastage pollution - Over
the past few years, several hospitals have emerged within City residential
areas which were welcomed earlier but now regret it. The hospital waste either
finds its way into the residential compounds or raises a stink in several
areas. Many of these hospitals and nursing homes are registered as residential
or commercial property and do not follow guidelines.
Illegal Constructions – Yes!
Several illegal constructions have come up that ignore all building regulation
norms and also set by the pollution control authorities. Most of them do not
follow fire fighting norms.
